oil leak / hole by filler cap – toyota avalon 3.5l v6 f dohc 2005

this car is spewing oil everywhere! upon further inspection i found a giant tear/hole close to the oil filler cap, but not in the oil baffle. the hole is on the side, which i believe may be the timing cover. i have searched the internet for days trying to find someone with a similar issue, but haven’t found anything like it. has anyone ever seen anything like this? this is an auction car so i don’t know the history other than what the vin report shows, and there is no negative history listed. i am wondering if maybe someone closed the hood with an oil funnel still in there? also wondering how expensive this will be to fix?
